Juan Onofri Barbato was born in 1983 in Rio Negro, Argentina. He lives and produces in Buenos Aires.

He works as a choreographer and teacher together with amateur and professional artists in research, training and creation projects where the limits of dance are rethought, provoked and deformed.

He has created with them: FYZ, Tualet, Los trompos, Estado de Tráfico, Caravana, Los posibles, Duramadre. The last two with the group KM29, with whom she has been working since 2010.

His projects have received grants, scholarships, residencies, national and international awards. She was finalist of the Rolex Mentor & Protégé Art Iniciative Award 2018, for the mentorship of Crystal Pite. He won the grant for the purchase and refurbishment of a theatre for independent theatre from the Instituto Nacional del Teatro 2017.
