Pipsa Lonka

Finland

Pipsa Lonka (Helsinki, 1977) is a Finnish playwright who graduated from the Helsinki Theater Academy in 2007. Her works are not limited to a single type of viewer, but range from children to adults.

The basis of his work is strong emotions and his central questions usually reflect on the physical and mental relationships between people, art and the red world (especially nature). His works are often combined with observations on how the space around us can affect our existence and the ways in which these experiences can be verbalized through language.

Lonka has won multiple awards both at home and abroad, his most recent award being the 2018 Lea Award for Best Drama of the Year from the Finnish Guild of Playwrights and Screenwriters. This prize was awarded to him for his work Second Nature (Toinen Luonto).
