Tomás Espina

Argentina

Born in 1975. Son of a Chilean mother and Argentinean father. Due to his parents’ exile he lived in Mexico, Mozambique and Chile. In 1992 he settled in Argentina, first in Unquillo and then in Buenos Aires. He has a degree in Visual Arts from the UNA. He won the First Prize Petrobras/arteBA 6th edition, Buenos Aires (2009). He was distinguished as Artist of the Year by the Argentinean Association of Art Critics in 2009. In 2011 he participated in the MAC/VAL residencies in France and in Art OMI in the United States.

Recent solo exhibitions include Fiebre y Geometría, Mamba Neuquén (2019), Haiti, Bien al Sur, Museo del Barro (Asunción, 2017), Museo Emilio Caraffa (Córdoba, 2016), Soluciones Potenciales, Galería Ignacio Liprandi Arte Contemporáneo (Buenos Aires, 2016), Yo fui mujer, Centro Cultural Recoleta (Buenos Aires, 2015) Gansaigt, Art&Public (Geneva, 2012), Dominio, MAC/VAL, Musée d’Art Contemporain (Val-de- Var, 2011).

His work has been included in numerous group exhibitions such as: My Buenos Aires, Maison Rouge, Paris (2015); Mom, am I Barbarian?, 13th Istanbul Biennial (2013); 30th Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana (2013); Arte en espacio público, Bariloche (2012); 7th Mercosur Biennial, Grito e escuta, Porto Alegre (2009); among others.
